
Gymnastics Posts Four Top-Five Finishes At EAGL Championship

NC State earned a meet score of 194.500
PITTSBURGH- The NC State gymnastics team completed its showing at the 2016 EAGL Championships on Saturday afternoon inside Fitzgerald Field House, as Pittsburgh played host.
The Wolfpack finished fifth in the team standings with a meet total of 194.500, highlighted by two career-best marks, four top-five finishes and a season-best score on vault as a team.Â
The Panthers won the team title with a 195.675, while New Hampshire and George Washington rounded out the top three in the standings with marks of 195.525 and 195.350, in respective order.

Uneven Bars
NC State started the championship on bars, posting a team score of 48.825. The opening rotation was highlighted by 9.800's from Amanda Fillard and Brittni Watkins, as they shared a tie for eighth place.
Nicole Wild and Michaela Woodford added scores of 9.750 a piece to the mix to tie for 16th, while Chelsea Knight rounded out the top-five scores for the Pack with a 9.725 to finish 20th.
Balance Beam
Wild and Woodford led the Pack on beam with scores of 9.875 and 9.825, in respective order. Woodford placed third while Wild finished in a tie for eighth in the event standings.Â
As a team NC State earned a rotation score of 47.600.
Floor Exercise
On floor Watkins posted her fifth score of 9.900 or higher this season, as she tabbed a 9.9 to tie for second place. Paris Phillips was the second-highest scorer for the Pack as she earned a 9.800 to finish in a tie for 12th place.Â
Alexa Phillips, Woodford and Knight also posted valuable marks for the team, as Phillips earned a 9.775, Woodford notched a 9.750 and Knight earned a 9.725 to each garner top-25 finishes.
As a team NC State tabbed a score of 48.825 on its third rotation of the day.Â
Vault
NC State ended its outing on a high note as it tied its season-high team score of 49.125. Watkins and Paris Phillips led the way for the team on vault as each posted a 9.850 to tie for third in the event standings.Â
Knight, Fillard and Tamburro also posted strong scores for the Pack, as Knight earned a 9.825 to finish in a tie for seventh place while Fillard and Tamburro tabbed a 9.800 each to tie for 10th.
Paris' performance marked a career high while Tamburro's tied hers.Â
All-Around
Knight finished eighth in the all-around competition with a 38.875 and Watkins finished 11th with a 38.675.
Up Next
The team will await word on its fate for the regional championships. The announcement will be made Monday afternoon by the NCAA as to which teams will advance to the six regional sites April 2.
