1. Preston Palmeiro starts the year on a four-game hitting streak, leading the team in batting (.474), RBIs (5), and slugging (.737). Nearly the conference player of the week on Monday, Palmeiro took a backseat to Louisville's Corey Ray, setting the stage for another ACC stat battle this weekend.
2. Freshman infielder Xavier LeGrant hit a home run in his first collegiate swing of the bat. Professor X supplied his first career three-RBI game Tuesday with a few highlight reel defensive plays tossed in for good measure.
3. Will Gilbert sports a 2-0 record through two bullpen appearances, fanning nine in 6 1/3 innings, including a career-high six against Morehead State. In his senior year, the unassuming lefty has developed into the most trusted hand on a reloaded Foxhall pitching staff which K'd 557 in 2015, good for second in the nation.
