RALEIGH, N.C. - Florida State (15-14) scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning en route to defeating NC State (13-12) by a score of 7-2 Sunday afternoon in ACC softball action at Curtis and Jacqueline Dail Softball Stadium.

Kayla Cox took the loss for the Pack, giving up four earned runs in 6.1 innings of work while striking out six Seminole batters.

The Wolfpack put two runs on the board in the first inning when Bridget Desbois notched her team-leading second triple of the season, scoring Alyssa Allbritten, who drew a walk to reach base with two outs. During the play, Florida State's shortstop tossed the ball to third in an attempt to throw out Desbois, and the ball skirted off of her helmet, allowing her to advance home and make the score 2-0 in favor of the Pack.

The first two batters in the Seminole lineup knocked singles to lead off the third inning, but Cox was able to retire the next three hitters in order to preserve NC State's 2-0 lead.

Florida State pulled within one run, 2-1, in the fifth inning after Robin Ahrberg's homerun to left center.

In the sixth inning, Ashley Stager knotted the score at two-all by hitting her fifth homerun of the 2011 campaign.

Ahrberg knocked her second homerun of the day in the seventh inning, giving FSU it's first lead of the game at 3-2. A walk, hit batter and Wolfpack error loaded the bases for Briana Hamilton, who then sent a fly ball deep to the outfield that was mishandled by Landon Warren, allowing two FSU runners to score. The Seminoles pushed across five total runs in the frame, extending their lead to 7-2 over the Pack.

NC State softball returns to action Wednesday, March 23 to take on UNCG at Curtis and Jacqueline Dail Softball Stadium in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
