Church, Orsini, Simmers Earn Academic All-District Honors

RALEIGH, N.C. – Three members of the NC State softball team were recognized Thursday afternoon by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) as part of the 2025-26 Academic All-District Team.
Senior Hannah Church earned the honor for the second time in her career, while graduate student Charli Orsini and sophomore Kendall Simmers received the recognition for the first time.
To be eligible for nomination, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. Selected by CSC, the Academic All-District Team recognizes student-athletes for their continued success both on the field and in the classroom.
Church finished the 2026 season with a .280 batting average, recording 35 hits, 23 RBI, 18 runs scored and 15 walks. She appeared in 48 games for the Pack, making 34 starts as the designated player and 14 behind the plate at catcher.
In her lone season with the Pack, Orsini made 18 appearances in the circle and logged 24.2 innings pitched. She totaled 21 strikeouts on the year, including a season-high six at Virginia on April 26.
Simmers turned in an impressive sophomore campaign, batting .342 with a 1.034 OPS. She tallied 51 hits, including 15 extra-base hits, while adding 50 RBI, 36 runs scored, a team-best 32 walks and six stolen bases. Simmers started all 53 games at second base for NC State.
