STANFORD, Calif. – The NC State softball team dropped an 11–4 decision at No. 20/19 Stanford on Friday evening at Stanford Softball Stadium.
The Cardinal used a pair of big innings to build an early advantage, scoring four runs in the first and adding six more in the third to take control of the contest.
The Pack moves to 25-18 overall and 6-9 in conference action.
How It Happened
The Pack returns to Stanford Softball Stadium on Saturday at 5pm EDT/2pm EDT for game two of the series. The game will be streamed on ACCNX.

How It Happened
- Stanford opened the scoring in the first inning with a leadoff home run and a two-RBI single, later adding a sacrifice fly to take a 4–0 lead.
- The Cardinal broke the game open in the third, scoring six runs on four hits and taking advantage of two NC State errors to extend the lead to 10–0.
- NC State answered in the fifth inning, tallying four runs on five hits, highlighted by a three-run home run from Lily Livingston.
- Stanford pushed across one run in the sixth on an RBI single to make it 11–4.
- NC State was held scoreless over the final two innings as Stanford secured the series-opening win.
- Three members of the pitching staff entered the circle – Rylee Wyman (1.1 IP), Charli Orsini (1.1 IP), and Kayla Fekel (3.1 IP). Orsini and Fekel each grabbed a pair of strikeouts in their outings.
