Balanced Offense, Big Fifth Inning Lift Pack Past Cal in Game One

How It Happened
- California struck first in the top of the first on an RBI single from Madison Rey.
- NC State answered immediately with a three-run bottom of the first, highlighted by RBI hits from Kendall Simmers and Morgen Talley and a sacrifice fly from Hannah Church.
- The Golden Bears added a solo home run in the second, but the Pack responded again as MaKayla Marbury led off with an infield double in the bottom of the inning and Simmers delivered a two-RBI double to push the lead to 5–2.
- Cal surged ahead in the fourth, scoring five runs, including a three-RBI double from Rey, to take a 7–5 lead.
- NC State responded in the bottom half of the inning as Talley lined a two-RBI double before Taryn Massey followed with a solo homer to give the Pack an 8–7 advantage.
- The Wolfpack broke the game open in the fifth when Talley launched a grand slam to left field, capping a five-run inning and extending the lead to 13–7.
- Lily Livingston added an RBI single in the sixth to provide insurance for NC State.
- California added a solo home run in the seventh, but Talley closed the door to secure the series-opening victory.
- The win marks the 23rd overall of the season.
- The Pack's 14 runs ties for the most in a game this season while 14 hits checks in at second most.
- Talley's 11 wins in the circle this season mark the most on the pitching staff and becomes the first freshman to record as many since Sydney Nester tallied 14 in 2018.
