#22 Pack Produces Historic Performance to Knock Off #12 UNC

RALEIGH, N.C. – No. 22 NC State gymnastics delivered a historic showing against No. 12 UNC, tying its highest bars score in program history, matching the fifth-best floor score ever, and recording a tie for the sixth-highest team score in program history to defeat the Tar Heels, 197.125-196.525. The Wolfpack set new season highs on bars, beam, and floor while eclipsing the 49.000 mark on all four events.
Syniya Thomas highlighted the night with a historic floor routine, earning a 9.975, tied for the second-highest floor score in program history and the first 9.975 by a Pack gymnast since Chloe Negrete on March 7, 2025.
NC State's 197.125 marked its highest score of the season and its first 197.000+ performance since March 7, 2025. The win was the Wolfpack's third of the season and third in ACC action, extending its winning streak over UNC to five consecutive duals.
The Wolfpack placed nine gymnasts on the podium across all four events, including event wins from Thomas on beam and floor.
Vault (49.025)
NC State opened the meet on vault, posting its first 49.000+ score on the event since the home opener against Clemson on Jan. 17.
Ava Myers led the rotation by matching her career-best 9.850, while Syniya Thomas added a strong 9.825.
Elle Hadrick and Autumn Rardin each recorded 9.800s, marking a career high for the freshman Rardin.
Bars (49.450)
The Wolfpack turned in a historic performance on bars, scoring 49.450 to tie the highest mark in program history.
Myers opened with a 9.850 for the second consecutive week, matching her personal best, before Jenna Rusk followed with a career-high 9.825, which was ultimately dropped. Madeline Reid earned the Pack's first 9.900 of the night with a season-best score, while Caroline Volk matched her career high with a 9.925.
The rotation concluded with a 9.875 from Hadrick and a season-best 9.900 from Katie Harper, sealing the historic effort.
Beam (49.200)
NC State continued its growth on beam, notching a season-best 49.200.
Harper and Volk opened with matching 9.850s, a season high for Harper and matching Volk's top mark. Maddie Hall contributed a 9.800, while Adasyn Tackett added a 9.825. Thomas capped the rotation with a career-high 9.875, the best score of the event for the Pack.
Floor (49.450)
The Wolfpack closed the meet on floor with another 49.450, matching its bars score to secure the rivalry win.
Rusk and Hadrick opened with 9.850s, matching Rusk's career best. NC State's freshmen shined once again, as Emerson Fisk posted a career-high 9.875 and Rardin recorded the first 9.900 of her collegiate career.
Thomas anchored the lineup with a career-best 9.975, tying the second-highest floor score in program history.
