Season-Best Beam Score Lifts #21 Wolfpack to Second-Straight Upset Win Over #13 UNC

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – No. 21 NC State gymnastics used a season-best 49.275 on beam to upset No. 13 UNC, 196.625-196.325, on Friday night inside Carmichael Arena. The victory marked the Pack's second straight win over the Tar Heels and second upset in five days.
Maddie Hall, Adasyn Tackett and Syniya Thomas anchored the meet-clinching beam rotation with matching 9.875s, each tying or setting career highs. The win extended NC State's streak to six consecutive victories over UNC and marked the Wolfpack's highest road score of the season.
Bars (49.025)
NC State opened with a 49.025 on bars, its second straight meet eclipsing the 49.000 mark. Caroline Volk captured the event title with a 9.875, while Madeline Reid posted a 9.850 to tie for second. Elle Hadrick added a 9.825 to give the Pack three scores of 9.825 or better in the rotation.
Vault (49.100)
The Wolfpack posted a 49.100 on vault, its second-best score of the season on the event, with three gymnasts matching or setting career highs. Thomas tied for second overall with a 9.875, matching her personal best, while Lauren Wright equaled her career high with a 9.850. Emerson Fisk continued her upward trend with a new career-best 9.750.
Floor (49.225)
NC State followed with a 49.225 on floor, counting five scores of 9.800 or better. Hadrick and Autumn Rardin tied for second in the event with matching 9.875s, while Meg Adler returned to competition and matched her career best with a 9.850. Thomas added a 9.825 and Fisk contributed a 9.800 to round out the rotation.
Beam (49.275)
With the teams tied entering the final rotation, NC State delivered its strongest beam performance of the season. Hall, Tackett, and Thomas each posted 9.875s to close the meet, sealing the Pack's second straight win over UNC. Katie Harper and Volk contributed 9.825s in the decisive rotation.
