RALEIGH, N.C. - Due to inclement weather, NC State competed in just two meets on Friday, January 30, sending athletes to the Brant Tolsma Elite Invite and the Bob Pollock Invitational.
In Lynchburg, Va., Sadie Engelhardt delivered a standout performance in the mile invite, finishing second with a time of 4:32.71. Her mark dipped under both the meet and facility records that were set during the race.
The distance squad continued the momentum in the 3000m, where Hannah Gapes (9:04.56) and Brooke Rauber (9:11.03) both ran under the newly established meet and facility records, placing second and sixth, respectively. Briley Bickerstaff added to the excitement with a time of 9:25.41, also under the meet record. Gapes' performance currently ranks No. 20 among NCAA Division I 3000m times this season.
At the Bob Pollock Invitational in Clemson, Elyssia Fisher recorded a personal-best jump of 19' 9" in the long jump, moving from No. 10 to No. 9 on NC State's all-time top-10 list. In the 400m, Alexis Mayhew cracked the top-10 on NC State's list with a time of 56.19, ranking sixth all-time.
On the men's side, Elijah Dawes and Christian Parker both posted top-10 performances in the 400m. Dawes ran a personal-best 46.50 to remain No. 2 on the list, while Parker made his debut in the top-10 at No. 3 with a time of 47.17.
