#11 Pack Comes Back to Beat #23 Florida and Clinch Spot in ITA Team Indoor Championships

RALEIGH, N.C. - The No. 11 NC State women's tennis team mounted a thrilling comeback from a 3-1 deficit to defeat No. 23 Florida, 4-3, in a five-plus hour match on Tuesday, earning a spot in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
Florida claimed the doubles point following a tightly contested opening round. The Gators struck first on court three as Brooke Black and Valery Gynina defeated Mia Slama and Lavinia Tanasie, 6-3. No. 4 Gabriella Broadfoot and Victoria Osuigwe responded for the Pack with a ranked 6-4 win over No. 17 Nikola Daubnerova and Xinyi Nong on court one, but Florida sealed the point when Emily Seibold and India Houghton topped No. 40 Jasmine Conway and Anna Zyryanova, 6-3, on court two.
The ranked doubles victory by Broadfoot and Osuigwe marked NC State's first ranked doubles win of the season.
In singles play, Florida extended its lead to 2-0 with a straight set win on court two before No. 38 Lavinia Tanasie put the Pack on the board. Tanasie earned a ranked victory over No. 11 Gabia Paskauskas, 7-5, 3-6, 6-1, to cut the deficit to one. The win was the Pack's first ranked singles victory of 2026.
The Gators moved to the brink of clinching with a three-set win on court one, but the Wolfpack answered. No. 60 Zyryanova delivered a clutch 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 victory on court three to keep NC State alive. Following the match-saving win by the senior, Conway managed to even the match at 3-3 with a straight-set win over Lucie Pawlak on court six.
The deciding point came down to court five, where Osuigwe faced Brooke Black. After splitting the first two sets, Osuigwe battled through a tense third set, pulling out a 7-5 win to clinch the match and secure NC State's berth in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
The victory marked NC State's first ranked win and first comeback victory of the 2026 season, as the Wolfpack had not previously dropped a set or match entering Tuesday's contest.
