BLACKSBURG, Va. – On a rainy Saturday night in Blacksburg, NC State women's soccer (2-6-4, 1-1-2 ACC) battled Virginia Tech (4-5-3, 0-3-1 ACC) to a 4-4 draw in a wild, back-and-forth contest. Antonella Mazziotto delivered a dramatic equalizer with just seven seconds remaining, securing a point for the Pack and extending its unbeaten streak in ACC play to three matches.
The Pack opened the match on the attack, applying steady pressure on the Hokies and generating a pair of early scoring opportunities before breaking through in the 24th minute on a goal from Jade Bordeleau. The junior forward connected on a pass from Daisy Duda and sent a shot toward goal that deflected off a Virginia Tech defender, redirecting just enough to sneak past goalkeeper Lauren Hargrove for the 1-0 lead.
Virginia Tech pulled even in the 39th minute, capitalizing on its first penalty kick of the season to send the match into halftime level at 1-1.
Coming out of the break, Virginia Tech's Natalie Mitchell gave her side the lead in the 52nd minute, burying a free kick into the bottom left corner past Olivia Pratapas.
It then took just eight minutes for Mana Nakata to respond to the Hokies' go-ahead score, firing a shot from long range to equalize at 2-2 off an assist from Yuna Aoki. Despite the highlight-reel strike, Virginia Tech quickly reclaimed the lead in the 63rd minute with a finish from inside the box. The Pack answered right back, though, as Fien Leijdekker delivered a rocket from distance in the 69th minute to level the match once again.
Both teams pushed for a game winner down the stretch, and Virginia Tech broke through in the 86th minute to reclaim the lead at 4-3. Just as the final whistle approached, however, Mazziotto came through with the equalizer at the death, slotting home the tying goal just before the clock struck zero to secure the 4-4 draw and a share of the points for the Pack.
Of Note:
The Pack returns home to host Wake Forest on Thursday, Oct. 2 (7 p.m.) for Fan Appreciation Night.

Of Note:
- With Saturday's draw, NC State closed the month of September with a 2-1-3 record after opening the season 0-5-1 in August. The Pack netted 11 goals in September, nearly quadrupling its August total of three, while tightening up defensively, conceding just seven goals compared to 14 in the opening month.
- Bordeleau's early score marks her third-consecutive game with a goal as she continues to lead the Pack offense, now with a team-high six goals on the year.
- Duda recorded her team-best fourth assist on the season in the tie as she continues to be a driving force in the Pack's passing game.
- Nakata finished the night with three points on one goal and one assist. The score was her first of the year as she now has five total points this season (one goal, three assists).
- Aoki provided her first point of the season, assisting on the score by Nakata.
- Leijdekker and Mazziotto's goals were the second of both of their seasons.
- The Pack's four goals matched a season high for the squad, which it first reached on Sept. 7 against Campbell.
- Tonight's draw was the highest-combined scoring contest the Wolfpack have played in this season with eight goals between the two squads.
- Today's results moved NC State to 5-12-3 in the all-time series against VT.
The Pack returns home to host Wake Forest on Thursday, Oct. 2 (7 p.m.) for Fan Appreciation Night.
