Bordeleau Leads Wolfpack to First Ranked Win Since 2021

RALEIGH, N.C – Jade Bordeleau provided the spark NC State needed, scoring twice in just 38 seconds to lift the Wolfpack (3-6-4, 2-1-2 ACC) to a 2-1 victory over No. 12 Wake Forest (9-2-2, 3-1-1 ACC) on Thursday night at Dail Soccer Stadium. The result marked NC State's first win over a ranked opponent since 2021 and extended its unbeaten streak in ACC play to four matches, the program's longest since 2019.
The breakthrough came in the ninth minute when Mackenzie Smith drew a foul in the box. Bordeleau calmly buried the ensuing penalty into the lower-left corner, her second converted PK in the last three matches. Thirty-eight seconds later, the junior forward doubled the lead, finishing a feed from Daisy Duda past Wake goalkeeper Valentina Amaral. Fien Leijdekker was also credited with an assist on the play.
The Demon Deacons would fight back, though, as in the 43rd minute Elliana Ramirez sent a header to the back of the net to cut the Pack's lead in half heading into halftime.
The Demon Deacons controlled much of the play in the second half, but the Wolfpack defense stayed composed. Goalkeeper Olivia Pratapas anchored the effort, recording seven of her eight saves after halftime. She withstood 13 second-half Wake Forest shots and seven corner kicks en route to her third win of the season.
Of Note:
The Pack travels to Boston College on Thursday, Oct. 9 for a 7 p.m. contest on ACCNX.
