RALEIGH, N.C. -- The NC State volleyball team is set to begin Atlantic Coast Conference play on the road with match ups at Duke and 25th-ranked North Carolina.Â
The Pack will face the Blue Devils on Friday Sept. 26 at 6:30pm at Cameron Indoor before heading to Chapel Hill to take on the Tar Heels on Sunday, Sept. 28 at 1pm. Both matches will be streamed on ACCNX.Â
The Basics of the Matchup(s)
- NC State will visit Durham for the first time since 2023 as Friday's meeting with the Blue Devils marks the 107th all-time battle. The Pack has won three of the last five meetings, including the most recent in 2024 in straight sets. The last two times the Wolfpack has visited Cameron Indoor, the Blue Devils have won in four (2023) and five (2022) sets.
- The Blue Devils hold the overall advantage in the series, 69-35. The last time NC State won in Durham was in 1988.
- Sunday's rivalry match up in Chapel Hill marks the 126th between the two programs. The Tar Heels have won three of the last five meetings but NC State has won the two most recent ones - both in four sets.
- The win in 2023 marked the first win in Chapel Hill for the Wolfpack since 1997. The Tar Heels hold the advantage in the series with a 90-35 record.
A Win Would (on Friday) ...
- Be the first conference win of the season.
- Be the eighth win of the 2025 campaign.
- Be the eighth win of the MWK Era.
- Be the 824th win in program history.
- Be the 36th win over Duke in program history.
Blocking Streak
- NC State has recorded at least one block in 521 consecutive matches, dating back to the 2009 season (unable to locate box scores from prior to August 29, 2008, therefore the streak could be longer but this is the current information at hand).
- Based on information compiled by Lipscomb, Creighton is the only program that has a longer streak, 951 matches, than the Wolfpack. Creighton's dates back to its first game in 1994.
- Leading the blocking efforts this season for the red-and-white? None other than freshman Talia Francom who currently averages 1.28 per set. She posted a career high of eight total blocks in back-to-back matches at the VCU Invite.
The State Belonged to the Pack in 2024.
- NC State defeated UNC, Duke, and Wake Forest (twice) last season to defeat all three in state opponents in the same season for the first time in program history.
- The Wolfpack looks to repeat history, starting on September 26 as it heads down Tobacco Road to Cameron Indoor.
- If the Pack pulls out the win in Durham on Friday, it will be the first win there in 13, 365 days or 36 years.
Go for Court Chop
- Senior outside hitter Courtney Bryant has made a name for herself as one of the best receiving outsides in the nation, according to AVID Volleyball (all stats based on volleymetrics numbers with a minimum of 25 attempts).
- The Hardy, Virginia native ranked eighth in the nation after the first week of play but jumped to second in the nation after week four.
- She falls just 0.01 behind the current nation's leader, Harper Murray of Nebraska.
