
Pack Falls to Chanticleers, Bryant Tops Career High

RALEIGH, N.C. – Senior outside hitter Courtney Bryant marked a career high 21 kills on 52 attempts to finish the evening hitting .346 in the Pack's 3-1 loss to Coastal Carolina in the final match of the Wolfpack Invitational in Reynolds Coliseum.
Bryant finished the weekend with 28 kills to earn a spot on the All-Tournament team next to freshman opposite Jordan Smith who totaled 31 kills.

- The Chants were hot from the first serve as it jumped out to an 8-2 lead to force an early NC State timeout.
- The Coastal offense couldn't miss as the NC State defense struggled to keep the Chants tamed. Coastal took the first set, 25-18, after hitting .457 in the frame.
- NC State returned the favor to begin the second set as the Pack jumped out to a 4-0 lead. The Chants quickly caught up, but the Wolfpack continued to dominate and closed the frame on a 10-5 scoring run. A Chanticleer service error allowed NC State to take set two, 25-15 , and even the match at one-all.
- Coastal Carolina jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the third set, forcing an early NC State timeout. The Pack struggled to minimize the deficit as the Chants offense found its momentum once again.
- Coastal took the third set, 25-18, after an attack error by the Wolfpack.
- The fourth set was a back-and-forth battle throughout, with neither team leading by more than two until NC State found a weak spot in the Chants defense. Redshirt-junior setter Elaisa Villar tallied several digs and crazy saves during some long rally's between the two teams throughout the set.
- NC State took a 23-18 lead, but six unanswered points by the Chanticleers gave Coastal the lead, 24-23. After five set points, the Chanticleers ended up on top, 30-28.
- In addition to Bryant's 21 kills, Smith added 14 and Vondran added a season high 12.
- Villar led the setters with 25 assists and picked up 17 digs to record her first career double-double. She also tallied a career high four service aces.
- The Wolfpack moves to 6-2 overall on the season.
