NC State's McMurray Family Director of Athletics Boo Corrigan has announced that Jenny Marks has been named head coach of the Wolfpack Cheerleading program. Marks, a 28-year coaching veteran, cheered for the Pack from 1997-2001.
"Jenny is a great leader for our cheer program and brings so much passion and knowledge to the role. She's been an integral part of the Wolfpack and local community for many years and I know she will do a great job."
A two-year captain and MVP during her career, Marks helped lead the Wolfpack to its first NCA National Championship in 2001.
Marks, who graduated from NC State in 2001 with a degree in communications, has served as the head cheer coach at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh for 28 years, leading her teams to 25 state titles and five Carolina Cups, which recognizes the highest overall team in the state regardless of category, size or division. Her squads have also claimed three Cheersport high school national titles and has posted four top-five finishes at the UCA High School Nationals the past 10 years.Â
Marks was named Coach of the Year by the North Carolina Cheer Association in 2008 and 2022, Regional Coach of the Year in 2022 and National High School Coach of the Year for 2022-23.Â
"I'm thrilled for this opportunity to be back leading the Pack," said Marks. "My coaching philosophy has always been centered around love, respect and discipline. I want every athlete to enjoy the same amazing four-year experience that I had at NC State."
She and her husband Taylor have five children, Ava, Sophia, Bryce, Chloe and Jack.
