NC State's national championship performance airs Sunday at 11 on CBS Sports Network
Sunday at 11 am on CBS Sports Network, NC State's national championship cheerleading squad hits the floor in a televised replay of the NCA Collegiate Nationals.
Wolfpack head coach Harold Trammel had his team write down their thoughts during the process, in an email to themselves, to preserve the experience and reflect on their accomplishment.Â
NC State's championship story in the team's own words below:
"The energy leaving the room that night was that of determination; we had a dream and we were going to go after it with everything we had."
"I was so proud of my 20 brothers and sisters that took the mat with me. For I knew I couldn't be a champion without them. They have supported, challenged, and trusted me as a leader this entire year."
"Mascot day was exciting as well, all new experience. The C02 cannon was my responsibility to turn on and it was leaking! Couldn't find coach so as soon as we ran it on stage I turned it on and hoped it worked properly. It worked! I was so happy."
"Standing behind the banner and knowing it was the last time I would ever touch the bandshell filled me with an overwhelming sense of pride and emotion. I stood back behind everyone for a minute, said my prayer, and took it all in."
"Through the ups and downs this team has always been there for each other and encouraging one another not only on the mat but off. This team wanted that national championship title more than anything."
"The moment had come, all the hard work, sweat and tears paid off, and we are the 2016 small coed division 1A national champions! I am honored and thankful for this opportunity, and the life lessons I've learned."
