
Trio Earns NFCA East All-Region Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Three members of the NC State softball team earned East All-Region honors, as tabbed by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Thursday afternoon.
Senior Taylor Ensley (outfield) earned first team honors while junior Hannah Church (designated player) earned second team and graduate Michele Tarpey (first base) landed on the third team. The honor is the first of their careers.
Ensley started all 54 games for the Pack, playing 51 in right field. She capped off her final season in the red-and-white with a .331 batting average and .630 slugging percentage. She led the Wolfpack in conference play with a .391 batting average, 27 hits, 13 walks and six doubles. She earned All-ACC Third Team honors and Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete honors to end her career.
Church appeared in all 54 games, starting in 53 for NC State. In her first season with the Pack, she hit .329 on the season and finished with 50 hits, 25 runs scored. She had a team best .743 slugging percentage, 53 RBIs, and 19 homers. She ended the regular season ranked 14th in the nation in homers and ranked in the top five in the ACC. She capped off her junior season with All-ACC Third Team honors and Eason/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors.
Tarpey appeared in 42 games for the Pack and started 40. She finished her final season hitting a team best .348 and ranked second on the squad in conference action with a .357 batting average. She ranked third on the team with 48 hits and second with 35 RBIs. Throughout the season, she maintained an eight-game hitting stream and nine-game reached base streak.
