Pack Sails Pack Pirates in Extra Innings

GREENVILLE, N.C. – NC State used a late offensive surge and strong bullpen work to secure a 5–2 win over East Carolina on Tuesday night in Greenville.
Locked in a 2–2 tie entering the ninth, the Wolfpack plated three runs in the final frame to pull away and close out the victory. The win marked the 22nd of the season and 19th in non conference play.
How It Happened
NC State will return home to Dail Softball Stadium to host Cal for its fifth conference series of the season. The Pack will face the Golden Bears in game one on Friday at 7pm and the meeting can be streamed on ACCNX .

How It Happened
- The Pirates struck first in the opening frame after capitalizing on an NC State error and a sacrifice bunt allowed a runner to score.
- Taryn Massey answered for the Wolfpack in the second after she smashed a first pitch bomb to dead centerfield to tie it up.
- After a scoreless third, the Pirates added their final run of the evening after a double plated a run and gave East Carolina the 2-1 lead.
- Hannah Church led off the sixth inning with a double and an RBI groundout Morgen Talley allowed NC State to tie it up once again, 2-2.
- It was a pitchers duel late in the evening, with the NC State bullpen holding the Pirates scoreless for five innings. Wynne Gore and Talley combined for five strikeouts to slow the Pirates.
- The Wolfpack found a surge in the ninth inning after Talley hit an infield single to start the rally.
- With runners on second and third, Carly Short came in clutch with a two RBI single to put the Pack in front, 4-2.
