NC State Falls to Denver and Iowa State in Tri-Meet

AMES, Iowa – NC State finished third in the Iowa State tri-meet Friday night, scoring 195.000. Iowa State secured second place with a 195.775, while Denver swept all four podiums and three events with a 196.750 at Hilton Coliseum.

Head coach Kim Landrus made her return to Hilton Coliseum as a coach for the first time since her distinguished collegiate career as an Iowa State Cyclone. Landrus made history with the Cyclones, earning the first perfect 10 on floor to help Iowa State claim the Big 12 conference title. She was also the program's first-ever NCAA qualifier, a two-time Academic All-American, and Iowa State's Female Athlete of the Year in 1997.

NC State posted two podium finishes in the meet. Ashley Knight placed third on vault with a 9.875, and Chloe Negrete finished second on beam with a 9.825.

Vault (49.125)
Vault was NC State's highest-scoring event of the evening. Lauren Wright posted a 9.800, Zultevicz scored a 9.825, Negrete earned a 9.850, and Knight finished with a 9.875 to secure third place in the event.

Bars (48.775)
On bars, Madeline Reid made her season debut and anchored the lineup with a 9.775. Freshmen Ava Myers and Caroline Volk each posted a 9.750, while Katie Harper, competing in the No. 5 spot, earned a 9.800.

Beam (48.550)
Leadoff gymnast Meg Adler scored a 9.700 to kick off the rotation for NC State. Katie Harper also posted a 9.700 in the No. 5 spot before Negrete anchored with a 9.825, securing second place in the event.

Floor (48.550)
On floor, Adler earned a 9.775 to start the rotation, followed by Elle Hadrick and Krista Zultevicz, who each scored 9.725. Negrete again anchored the rotation with a 9.825.
