
No. 19 NC State Set to Face No. 6 Michigan Friday

RALEIGH, N.C. – The No. 19 NC State women's tennis team is set to host the No. 6 Michigan Wolverines this Friday, February 14, at 3:00 p.m. at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center. Admission to the match is free for all guests, and fans are encouraged to obtain a virtual parking permit upon arrival. Instructions for obtaining the permit can be found HERE. The match will be livestreamed on Track Tennis, and match results will be available on Statbroadcast.
The Wolfpack are coming off a 5-2 win over Old Dominion at home. Friday will mark the third meeting between the two programs, with Michigan currently holding a 2-0 lead in the series. The last meeting took place last season when NC State traveled to Ann Arbor.
Freshman Michaela Laki, ranked No. 52 in the ITA singles rankings, heads into Friday's match after being named the ACC Freshman of the Week. Laki earned her third ACC honor after her singles victory over Old Dominion, where she defeated No. 6 Sophia Johnson in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. This marks Laki's first win against a top-10 opponent.
In the latest ITA team rankings released Wednesday morning, NC State maintained its No. 19 position. Last week, Michaela Laki was ranked No. 52 in singles, with Gabia Paskauskas following at No. 97. In doubles, Maddy Zampardo and Gabriella Broadfoot lead the Wolfpack at theNo. 2 spot in ITA doubles rankings, ready to take on the highly ranked Michigan. Kristina Paskauskas and Jasmine Conway also appear at No. 80 in doubles.
Scouting the Wolverines:
Michigan enters the weekend ranked No. 6 in the ITA team rankings, featuring an impressive roster of ranked players, including No. 4 Julia Fliegner, No. 30 Piper Charney, No. 36 Lily Jones, and No. 66 Reese Miller in singles. Fliegner, in particular, was named Big Ten Player of the Week after a standout performance at the ITA National Indoor Championships, where she secured her 100th career singles win. The Wolverines also boast highly ranked doubles teams, with No. 21 Jessica Bernales and Lily Jones, No. 27 Piper Charney and Jessica Bernales, No. 45 Reese Miller and Julia Fliegner, and No. 60 Piper Charney and Emily Sartz-Lunde.
Looking ahead, the Wolfpack will shift focus to conference play, beginning their ACC slate in Louisville, Kentucky, where they will face the Louisville Cardinals on Friday, February 28, at 4:00 p.m.
