Conway and Smejkalova Move into Main Doubles Draw at ITA All-American Championships

CARY, N.C. - The NC State women's tennis doubles duo of Jasmine Conway and Amelie Smejkalova advanced to the main draw of the ITA All-American Championships after earning a pair of wins in the qualifying draw Monday and Tuesday at Cary Tennis Park.
The duo opened its run Monday against Jermine Sherif and Karolina Kozakova of Washington, earning a 6-4, 0-6, (10-5) victory in the first round of qualifying. Conway and Smejkalova then defeated Alice Ferlito and Madeleine Jessup of Princeton, 6-3, 6-3, in the second round Tuesday to advance to the main draw.
Conway also competed in the singles qualifying draw after advancing through pre-qualifying. She earned a ranked win over No. 102 and 17th-seeded Kate Fakih of UCLA, 6-4, 1-6, 6-2, in the first round before falling to No. 85 and 14th-seeded Alexis Nguyen of North Carolina, 6-3, 6-3, in the second round.
The main draw runs Wednesday, Sept. 23, through Sunday, Sept. 27.
