
#7 Wolfpack Welcomes Northern Colorado for Season Opening Dual

RALEIGH – Seventh-ranked NC State wrestling welcomes Northern Colorado to Raleigh for the first time to start the dual-meet season. The dual is set for a 6 p.m. start, but fans should arrive early to see Vincent Robinson's national championship banner be dropped in Reynolds Coliseum.

• The program started the season in the top 10 of the NWCA preseason rankings, marking the at least the ninth consecutive season to do so (records going to 2017-18 season.
• On InterMat, seven wrestlers are ranked in their respective weight classes, with five of them in the top 10, headlined by Vincent Robinson at No. 1 for 125 lbs, coming off his national championship season.
• The roster boasts seven NCAA Qualifiers, featuring one national champion and four All-Americans.
Around the ACC
• The ACC holds five teams ranked nationally in the top 25 (No. 7 NC State, No. 10 Virginia Tech, No. 19 Stanford, No. 20 Pittsburgh, and No. 23 North Carolina). There are seven teams total with wrestling programs in the ACC.
• NC State looks to take back the ACC title this season after sharing the regular season honors with Virginia Tech and North Carolina and finishing third at the championship tournament. Prior to that, the ACC trophy lived in Raleigh for six consecutive seasons, 2019-2024.
• The Wolfpack leads the conference with the most wrestlers in the top-five of their respective weight classes according to InterMat (125 #1 Robinson, 174 #5 Singleton, 285 #3 Trumble). In total, nine ACC wrestlers are found in the top-10, with NC State featuring the majority of that group with five.
New Faces and New Places
• The Wolfpack lineup returns stronger this year with experienced redshirts Jackson Arrington and Ryan Jack returning to competition. Arrington moves up to 157 lbs to replace graduated consistent performer Ed Scott. Jack remains at 141 lbs for his final year of eligibility, he already earned All-American status at this weight back in Kansas City in 2024 and qualified for NCAAs in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Both claimed the individual ACC title in their respective weight classes in that same season (2024), with Arrington defeating Virginia Tech's Caleb Henson just before Henson went on to win the national championship a few weeks later.
• The red-and-white welcomed back 2019 graduate of the program, their new assistant coach, Malik McDonald, to the team back in June. He brings collegiate coaching experience from his time at Kent State, Long Island, and Clarion. A native of Hope Mills, North Carolina, as an athlete at NC State, he qualified for the NCAA Championships in 2017 and 2019 at 197 lbs. During the 2018 season, he competed at the U23 World Team Trials, garnering All-American honors with a fourth-place finish at 97kg. In 2019, he claimed the ACC title for his weight class.
• The team welcomed seven freshmen to the squad this season, two of which are North Carolina homegrown wrestlers. Five of those wrestlers were named to Sports Illustrated's 2024-25 Preseason National High School rankings that list the top 25 wrestlers from all over the country in each weight class.
• Over the summer, the Pack picked up Iowa State 133 pound transfer Zach Redding who qualified for the national tournament in 2023 and 2021. During the 2021 season, he qualified at 133 pounds as a freshman by placing third at the Big 12 Championships
