The Basics of the Matchup
- NC State will the seventh-ranked Cardinals for the first time in the MWK Era and the first time in the Dan Meske Era. The two coaches aren't strangers as they were both associate head coaches at the respective school prior to becoming the head coach.
- The last time the Pack faced the Cardinals, Louisville won in straight sets. The last time the Cardinals visited Reynolds, the Pack stunned the then fifth-ranked Cardinals in four.
- Louisville leads the all time series 9-2.
- Notre Dame will visit Reynolds on Sunday for the first time since 2023. In 2024, the Pack swept the Irish in straight sets in South Bend. Then junior Courtney Bryant tallied 10 kills and three aces for the Pack.
- NC State leads the all-time series, 11-7.
- Be the fifth conference win of the season.
- Be the 12th win of the 2025 campaign.
- Be the 12th win of the MWK Era.
- Be the 829th win in program history.
- Be the 219th conference win of the season.
- Be the third win over the Cardinals in program history
- Be the fourth win over a top-10 team in program history.
- Freshman outside hitter Rebecca Ring was a force to be reckoned with against Cal. She posted a career high 22 kills, becoming the first freshman since 2022 (Ava Brizard) to post 20+ in their freshman campaign. She is also the only freshman in the conference to tally more than 17+ kills in a match this season (teammate Jordan Smith had 17 kills vs Cleveland State).
- She finished the outing with 22 kills with 5 errors on 58 attacks to hit .293 on the afternoon.
- Her swing was POWERFUL against Cal, with several balls hitting the tera-flex with immense force.
- First year head coach Megan Wargo-Kearney has a 61.8 percent (21-of-34) success rate when it comes to challenges this season.
- She holds a single match high of three successful challenges, something she has accomplished three times this season (Green Bay, Coastal Carolina, Cal).
- It's clear MWK and Co. have an eye for when the 'C' should be thrown up. Although this is not a stat that the NCAA tracks, it's an interesting one to keep an eye on.
