
Pack Falls To #7 Louisville

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State volleyball team fell to seventh-ranked Louisville in straight sets Friday evening in Reynolds Coliseum to fall to 11-12 overall and 4-9 in conference action.
Senior outside Courtney Bryant paced the Pack with 13 kills and hit .303 on the evening.
The first set began as a back-and-forth battle between the two teams, but it was the Cardinals who maintained a lead. The Cardinals went on a 7-4 scoring run to hold a 15-11 lead at the media timeout. The Pack scored three unanswered points after the timeout, but the Cardinal offense was too powerful.
Louisville closed out the first set on a 11-5 scoring run and took the first set, 25-19.
The Wolfpack continued to battle in the second set, staying within reach of the ranked Cardinals but four unanswered points allowed Louisville to take a seven-point lead (7-14). The Pack trailed by seven on three more occasions before the Cardinals took the second set, 25-18.
Freshman outside Rebecca Ring led the Pack with five kills in the second frame.
NC State continued to battle in the third set, attempting to take a lead but Louisville continued to dominate. An attack error by the Pack took the third frame into the media timeout with Louisville leading 15-12.
The Pack scored four unanswered points at the end of the set to minimize the deficit to three (19-22) but Louisville would score three more points to take the set, 25-20, and the match, 3-0.
Redshirt-junior setter Elaisa Villar led the setters with 24 assists and added 16 digs to her stat line. She was the only student-athlete from either team to record a double-double.
The Pack returns to Reynolds Coliseum on Sunday, November 9 at 1pm to take on Notre Dame. The match will be streamed on ACCNX.
