RALEIGH, N.C. – An up-and-coming name in the coaching ranks, Jeremiah Burden is set to join NC State volleyball's coaching staff as an assistant coach, head coach Megan Wargo-Kearney announced Thursday.
"We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Kaleena Davidson for her invaluable contributions to our program during her tenure as assistant coach, and we wish her the best of luck," said Wargo-Kearney. "We are thrilled to welcome Jeremiah Burden to our coaching staff. Jeremiah and I have been in contact for a couple of years through the volleyball community, and I am grateful he has decided to join our program.
"His time at Pepperdine and Juniata provided invaluable experience early in his career. Specifically, his background as a libero will be essential for our first-contact training, while his expertise in data science will be an integral piece of our strategic development moving forward."
Burden spent the 2025 season as a graduate assistant coach with the Pepperdine women's volleyball program. He helped guide the Waves to a 21-8 overall record and a 15-2 mark over their final 17 matches, marking the program's most wins since 2021. Pepperdine also produced three All-WCC First Team selections, an All-Freshman Team honoree and an All-WCC Honorable Mention selection, while ranking among the conference leaders in blocks, digs and service aces.
Prior to his time in Malibu, Burden spent four seasons as a student-assistant coach for the Juniata College women's volleyball program while also competing on the men's team. During his time on staff, the Eagles captured three consecutive NCAA Division III national championships and compiled a 97-match win streak. Juniata also became the first Division III program to post back-to-back undefeated seasons.
The Eagles won the Landmark Conference title in all four seasons Burden was on staff, going a combined 104-1 in conference play. He also assisted in the development of two AVCA Players of the Year, 14 All-Americans and 19 all-conference selections.
A four-year letterwinner for the Juniata men's volleyball team, Burden served as the Eagles' libero for three seasons and was a team captain. He also spent time as a setter during his collegiate career. Juniata remained ranked in the top 10 nationally in Division III throughout all four of his seasons.
Academically, Burden was the recipient of the 2025 NCAA Division III Elite 90 Award, presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA at each of the NCAA's championship final sites. A data science major, he also presented "Does Serve Speed Matter? A Data-Informed Serving Mindset" at the 2024 AVCA Coaches Convention. Burden graduated summa cum laude in 2025 with a perfect 4.0 GPA while double majoring in data science and management.
In addition to his collegiate experience, Burden served as an assistant coach for Ultimate Volleyball Club, based in Frankfort, Illinois, from 2018-24.
