LOS ANGELES – The NC State women's basketball team has two representatives on the John R. Wooden Award Top 50 Women's Watch List. Zoe Brooks and Khamil Pierre are two players on the list.
The duo has also been tabbed to the All-ACC Preseason Team and the Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Women's College Player of the Year Watchlist. Pierre is one of 15 on the Wade Award Watchlist.
Brooks has started her junior year averaging 14.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. Her scoring average is tied with Pierre for the best on the team and her assists average paces the Pack. Her most notable performance thus far was her 24-point, 11-rebound double-double against No. 18/16 USC. She has shown to be one of the best rebounding point guards in the country, logging 9+ rebounds in each of the first four games. The Plainfield, New Jersey native leads the league in minutes (35.8) and defensive rebounds per game (8.5), as well as is second in double-doubles (2), fifth in rebounds per game, ninth in assists per game and 14th in scoring in the ACC.
The point guard is coming off a great sophomore season, finishing second on the team in scoring and logged 14.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game. Brooks was a WBCA All-America Honorable Mention choice, ACC First Team selection and named the ACC Most Improved Player. In her career, Brooks has logged 49 double-digit scoring games, six double-digit rebounding games and six double-doubles.
Pierre started out her Wolfpack career with three consecutive double-doubles, including in the first game against Tennessee, in which she logged 21 points, 14 rebounds and three steals to be named Ro Greensboro Invitational Most Outstanding Player. She matches a team-high 14.3 points per game and leads the Pack in rebounding with 11.3 per game, which is second in the league and 11th in the ACC. The Phoenix, Arizona native paces the league in double-doubles with her three and is third in offensive rebounds per game (4.5) and 14th in scoring with Brooks. She is coming off surpassing 1,000 career points in 69 career games last Sunday against TCU.
Coming into NC State, Pierre averaged 20.4 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.9 steals per game across 30.5 minutes per game at Vanderbilt as a sophomore. Her points average was the 19th best in the country and she tallied 17 double-doubles and double digits in scoring in all but one game with 16 20+ point games.
The players on this list are considered strong candidates for the 2026 John R. Wooden Award Women's Player of the Year. Players not selected on the list remain eligible for inclusion on the Wooden Award midseason, late-season list and National Ballot. The National Ballot will include 15 top players who have demonstrated to their universities they meet or exceed the Wooden Award qualifications. Aziaha James was one of 15 finalists last season.
The Pack will play Coastal Carolina at Reynolds Coliseum on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ACC Network.
