
Wolfpack Continues Homestand Against George Washington on Sunday

RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State women's soccer continues its four-game homestand Sunday afternoon against George Washington. Sunday's match is set for noon at Dail Soccer Stadium.
Sunday's match will stream live on ACC Network Extra. Live stats will also be available for the Pack's contest against the Revolutionaries.
SERIES HISTORY VS. GEORGE WASHINGTON
NC State and George Washington will square off for the eighth time on Sunday afternoon. A few notes tracking the Pack's matchup against the Revolutionaries are listed below:
• NC State holds a 6-0-1 record against George Washington, recording shutouts in all six of its victories. The Wolfpack has won five of those games by multiple goals.
• NC State last faced George Washington on Sept. 6, 2018, in Raleigh. Anna Toohey netted a brace in the Wolfpack's 2-0 victory.
• Six of NC State's seven prior matches against George Washington came before 1994.
• George Washington secured a 1-1 draw against NC State on Sept. 25, 1992.
SCOUTING THE REVOLUTIONARIES
George Washington (2-3-2) enters Sunday's matchup against the Wolfpack following a 2-1 home victory over Drexel. The Revolutionaries also logged a 3-0 road win at Towson earlier this season on Aug. 25. All three of GWU's defeat have come by a single goal, dropping one-goal contests to Binghamton, Loyola (Md.) and Youngstown State. Alicia Window leads George Washington with three goals and six points, while Kate McGrath paces the Revolutionaries with a pair of assists. Ainsley Lumpe has started all seven matches in goal for George Washington, making 20 saves with a .690 save percentage.
BRINGING GWU TO RALEIGH
NC State added a home match against George Washington on Sunday, Sept. 15. The Pack added the nonconference matchup as a replacement match for a canceled game against Colorado on Sept. 1.
GOALS GALORE
After a slow start in its first three matches, the NC State offense erupted for eight goals between back-to-back victories over VCU and Charlotte. The Wolfpack scored just once in an 0-2-1 start to the season before logging three first-half goals in each of its two victories this season. The last time NC State scored three or more goals in back-to-back matches was on Oct. 24 and Oct. 27, 2019, when the Wolfpack notched a 3-2 win over Syracuse and a 3-0 win over Notre Dame.

Since Tim Santoro's first season at NC State in 2013, the Wolfpack is now 68-4-5 in matches when it scores multiple goals (two or more) following back-to-back multi-goal victories against VCU and Charlotte.

NC State was ranked No. 27 on SoccerWire's 2024 Best College Soccer Teams: Top 50 Current NCAA Women's Programs. Rankings are based on a combination of final United Soccer Coaches Polls and RPI rankings over the past five seasons. The Wolfpack has secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament in six of the past seven fall campaigns, highlighted by NCAA Sweet 16 appearances in 2016, 2018 and 2019.
NC State also ranks inside the top eight of all ACC programs on the list. The Wolfpack is one of 11 ACC programs inside the Top 50.
OKEKE WRAPS UP PLAY AT U-20 WORLD CUP
In August, freshman defender Janet Okeke was announced as one of 21 players named to the Canadian Women's Soccer Under-20 Team for the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. The U-20 World Cup started on Aug. 31 with Canada recording a 3-3 draw against France before notching a 9-0 win over Fiji on Sept. 3. Okeke and Canada advanced out of group play and faced Spain in the Round of 16 on Wednesday. Team Canada dropped the Round of 16 matchup 2-1. Okeke again played all 90 minutes for her country in the setback.
