• NC State's prior two wins in the series came in 2000 and 2001. The Wolfpack secured a 3-0 win in Raleigh on Sept. 27, 2000, before posting a 1-0 road victory over the 49ers on Oct. 16, 2001.
• Charlotte won the first two matchups in the series in 1998 and 1999.
SCOUTING THE 49ERS
Charlotte plays its second straight road match after opening its 2024 season with three consecutive home matches at Transamerica Field. The 49ers dropped all three of those matches, including a 2-0 defeat to TCU and a 3-0 loss to No. 20 Mississippi State. Charlotte recorded its first draw of the season on Sunday at App State, scoring a second-half goal to tie the score at 1-1. The 49ers were picked fourth in the 2024 American Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll with one first-place vote. Senior forward Macey Bader has scored both of Charlotte's goals this season, tallying goals against UNCW and App State. Goalkeeper Emma Wakeman has started and played every minute of Charlotte's first four matches.
GOALS GALORE
NC State's offense erupted for five goals in its first win of the season Sunday at VCU, shutting out the Rams 5-0 in a dominant road victory. NC State was shut out in its first two matches of the season prior to Thursday's 2-1 setback at Campbell, but the Pack responded immediately in the attacking third against VCU with all five of its goals coming within the game's first 53 minutes. Mana Nakata opened the scoring with a long-range effort in the 5th minute before Abi Hugh and Annika Wohner each added goals to make it 3-0 Wolfpack at halftime. Hannah Jibril made it 4-0 early in the second half before Wohner notched her first-career brace in the 53rd minute, putting an exclamation point on a lopsided road win.
The Wolfpack's 5-0 win marked its first time scoring five goals in a single match since another 5-0 victory on Sept. 9, 2021, against Oklahoma. Wohner also became the first Wolfpack player with a multi-goal effort since Lulu Guttenberger scored twice against Miami on Oct. 15, 2022.
TALLY THEM UP
Since Tim Santoro's first season at NC State in 2013, the Wolfpack is now 67-4-5 in matches when it scores multiple goals (two or more) following Sunday's 5-0 win at VCU.
