Wolfpack Faces Campbell on Thursday, VCU on Sunday
RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State women's soccer plays its first set of games away from Raleigh this week with road matches at Campbell and VCU. The Wolfpack faces Campbell on Thursday night before concluding its two-game road stretch at VCU on Sunday afternoon.
Thursday's match against the Camels is set for 7 p.m. and will stream live on FloSports. FloSports is a subscription-based service. The Wolfpack then faces the Rams on Sunday at 1 p.m. Sunday's match will stream live on ESPN+. Live stats are available for both of NC State's road matches this week.
SERIES HISTORY VS. CAMPBELL
NC State and Campbell will face off for the 18th time on Thursday night. A few notes tracking the Pack's matchup against the Camels are listed below:
• NC State holds an undefeated 15-0-2 record against Campbell in the all-time series, winning three of the past six matches by multiple goals.
• Jameese Joseph helped lead the Wolfpack to a thrilling 1-0 victory in the most recent matchup in the series on Aug. 25, 2022. The Wolfpack capitalized on a late breakaway when Joseph scored the game-winning goal with less than 10 seconds remaining.
• NC State and Campbell settled for a 1-1 draw in the most recent contest played in Buies Creek on Aug. 26, 2021. Annika Wohner scored for the Wolfpack as the game ended in a draw after two scoreless overtime periods.

• Similar to its prior matchup against Campbell, NC State also used a late goal from Jameese Joseph to record a key nonconference victory. With the score tied at 1-1, Joseph netted the game-winning goal in the 87th minute for a 2-1 home victory. Alexis Strickland provided the assist.
• NC State is 2-0 in matches played at VCU. The Wolfpack recorded a 2-1 victory in the most recent road match on Feb. 28, 2021.
SCOUTING THE CAMELS
Campbell (0-1-1) hosts its second straight home match after opening the season at ACC foe Virginia Tech this past Thursday. The Camels suffered a 4-0 defeat to the Hokies before notching a 3-3 tie at home against George Mason. Campbell jumped out to a 2-0 lead against George Mason before allowing three straight goals to the visitors, rescuing a tie with less than a minute remaining when Kaleigh Backlund netted the equalizer. Campbell was predicted 10th in the 2024 CAA Women's Soccer Preseason Poll with forward Alyssa Tucker named as an honorable mention for the 2024 Preseason All-CAA Women's Soccer Team.
SCOUTING THE RAMS
VCU (0-1) dropped its season opener 2-1 at in-state foe Old Dominion on Thursday. The Rams finished their 2023 campaign with a 5-9-4 record and a 4-4-2 league mark in the Atlantic 10. Prior to Sunday's match against the Pack, the Rams will face Liberty on the road in Lynchburg. The Rams were picked third in the 2024 A-10 Women's Soccer Preseason Poll with 183 points, trailing just behind Saint Louis and Dayton in the poll. Senior midfielder Kanna Matsuhisa leads the Rams with a goal and two shots on target so far this season.
WELCOME BACK, NO. 12
Jaiden Thomas has been a staple of the NC State women's soccer program since 2019 when she made 22 appearances and eight starts as a true freshman. Thomas, who was supposed to conclude her Wolfpack career in 2023, suffered a preseason injury this past season that kept her out for the entire 2023 campaign. The graduate midfielder returned for NC State in Thursday's season opener against App State, playing 39 minutes as a substitute. She then earned her first start since the 2022 season on Sunday against ECU.
OKEKE HEADING TO U-20 WORLD CUP
Freshman defender Janet Okeke was announced as one of 21 players named to the Canadian Women's Soccer Under-20 Team for the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. The 2024 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup will begin on Aug. 31 in Colombia. Canada will be paired with France, Brazil and Fiji in Group B. Canada will open group play against France on Aug. 31 in Medellin. Okeke, a freshman from Laval, Quebec, competed in Canada's U-20 team camp in Verl, Germany, in April. The camp included two international matches against the United States and Germany.
LISTED AMONGST THE NATION'S BEST
NC State was ranked No. 27 on SoccerWire's 2024 Best College Soccer Teams: Top 50 Current NCAA Women's Programs. Rankings are based on a combination of final United Soccer Coaches Polls and RPI rankings over the past five seasons. The Wolfpack has secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament in six of the past seven fall campaigns, highlighted by NCAA Sweet 16 appearances in 2016, 2018 and 2019.
NC State also ranks inside the top eight of all ACC programs on the list. The Wolfpack is one of 11 ACC programs inside the Top 50.
