
No. 16 NC State Takes On No. 4 Wake Forest In Winston-Salem

RALEIGH, N.C.- No. 16 NC State men's tennis are headed to Winston-Salem, NC this Friday, Mar. 29 to take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, at the Wake Forest Tennis Center at 2:00 PM .Â
ÂThe Pack have had a strong ACC run so far heading into Friday's match with a 5-1 record in conference play, and 12-4 record overall. The Wolfpack are coming off of a weekend sweep against Notre Dame, and Louisville defeating both teams 4-0 on the road.
ÂThe Pack last faced Wake Forest in match nine of the ACC men's tennis championship April 21, 2023. The Pack fell short in Winston- Salem to the Demon Deacons in a close 2-4 match.Â
ÂPack in the Polls
The Pack climbed an impressive seven spots this week in the ITA team rankings, jumping from No. 23 last week to No. 16. The Pack have remained in the top- 25 in ITA rankings since conference play began. Last week Junior Luca Staeheli made his first appearance in the charts securing a spot in both singles and doubles. Staeheli claimed the No. 103 spot in the charts in singles. Staeheli has been a dominant singles player with a 13-2 overall record, and 6-0 record in conference play. Robin Catry, and Braden Shick have also continued to climb in the charts. Catry leads the Pack breaking the top fifty in the No. 46 spot in singles. Braden Shick joins Catry at the No. 67 spot being a consistent player for the Pack maintaining a ten match win streak in singles play. In doubles play Martin Borisiouk, and Joe Wayand have made an appearance at the No. 36 spot in ITA doubles rankings, joining them in the charts is Luca Staeheli, and Robin Catry at the No. 78 spot.Â

Scouting the Deacons
Wake Forest has been a major competitor this season ranked No. 4 in the ITA team rankings. Wake Forest has faced an immense strength of schedule so far this season going up against 16 ranked opponents. The Demon Deacons have also clinched numerous wins over highly ranked opponents, including No. 4 South Carolina, No. 9 Columbia, and No. 11 Michigan State. Wake Forest claims No. 1 doubles duo Dhakshineswar Suresh, and Holden Koons who hold a 22-4 record in doubles play this season. Suresh (WF) also makes an appearance in the Demon Deacons singles rotation checking in at the No. 58 spot. Wake Forest also features No. 38 Filippo Moroni who holds a 17-11 record in singles play so far this season.
