Pack Picks Up Two School Records on First Night of Four-Meet Weekend

RALEIGH - The NC State track and field team returned to action today, picking up two school records and seven personal best marks while competing at the BU Valentine Invite, Tiger Paw Invite, and Don Kirby Elite Invite in day one of a four-meet weekend.
HOW IT HAPPENED
BU VALENTINE INVITE:
Middle Distance
Freshman phenom Angelina Napoleon continued to make a name for herself in her first collegiate indoor track season, breaking the school record for the 800m for the second time in two weeks. After breaking the all-time NC State mark at the Camel City Invite on January 27th, Napoleon clocked in at 2:06.70 today in Boston to break her own record.
Distance
Another school record was broken in the men's DMR, where the team of Xavier Branker, Zach Hughes, Wesley Larson, and Jake Toomey finished in 9:37.96 to take first overall and establish a new Wolfpack indoor record.
CLEMSON TIGER PAW INVITE:
Throws
In the women's weight throw, Makala Wright set a new personal best with a throw of 19.44m, the fifth-best mark in school history. Sydney Freeman also set a personal best in the event with a throw of 18.07m.
Middle Distance
Matt Bogdan picked up a top-10 finish in the men's mile with a sixth-place finish of 4:15.56. On the women's side of the mile, Caroline Murrell finished eighth with a personal best time of 5:00.86.Â
Lance Patterson (49.21) and Quentin Clarke (49.42) each set new personal best times in the 400m.
Sprints
In the women's 60m hurdles prelim, Ally Henson clocked in at 8.34 to qualify for the semifinal. Jakerra Covington also competed in the event, clocking in at 9.12 to set a new PR.
DON KIRBY ELITE INVITE:
Jumps
Kyzaiah Stone finished in eighth place in the men's high jump with a leap of 2.07m. Jirah Sidberry took ninth in the women's long jump, finishing with a mark of 6.16m.

The Pack returns to action tomorrow for the second day of the BU Valentine Invite, Clemson Tiger Paw Invite, and Don Kirby Elite Invite. NC State will also open action at the Boston College Eagle Elite Invite.
