RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State women's soccer (4-9-3, 1-5-2) pulled out a win over Clemson (6-6-2, 2-5 ACC) on Sunday afternoon, 1-0. Rosalie Olou delivered her first career goal in crunch time off the bench, scoring it in the 71st minute off an assist from Jade Bordelau. That goal was all the Pack needed to come out in winning ways.
The win marks NC State's first ACC victory of the season and extends its winning streak over Clemson to two games after also defeating Clemson on the road, 2-1, in 2022.
Both teams took some time to get going offensively with the first shot of the match coming at the 20th minute by Clemson. Moments later, NC State got a good look off a corner kick by Mana Nakata who found Taylor Chism for a header. The Clemson goalkeeper got a hand on Chism's ball to keep the match knotted up at 0-0. At the half, both teams were held off the scoreboard with the Tigers owning the 2-1 advantage in shots.
In the second half, Bordelau broke away from a pair of Clemson defenders and crossed the ball over to Olou who found a great opening to find the back of the net. The sophomore's goal was the first of her career, while Bordeleau picked up her third assist and 11th point to lead the Pack this season. Pushing the tempo, Clemson had a good look for the equalizer at the 87th and 89th minute, with that second attempt being saved off the top of Olivia Pratapas' hand. The Pack picked up its fourth shutout of the year, first in ACC play.
Goalkeeper Pratapas logged three saves off for her fourth shutout of the season. Clemson outshot NC State, 8-5, with Yuna Aoki, Brianna Weber, Bordeleau, Taylor Chism and Olou accounting for the Pack's shots on the day.
