
Wolfpack Earns Road Draw at Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – NC State women's soccer earned a 1-1 draw at Wake Forest on Thursday night at Spry Stadium.
Wake Forest denied the Wolfpack a road victory when Caiya Hanks finished with her left foot inside the box in the 83rd minute, tying the game at 1-1 with just over seven minutes remaining.
Jade Bordeleau scored the opening goal in the second half off a corner kick delivery from Emika Kawagishi. The header marked Bordeleau's second goal of the season.
After Olivia Pratapas made a key save in the 70th minute, the Wolfpack earned a corner kick less than two minutes later. Kawagishi then delivered an in-swinging cross to the middle of the box where Bordeleau headed the opening goal past Wake Forest goalkeeper Madison Howard.
Thursday's match featured 13 yellow cards. The Wolfpack played the final 9:48 with 10 players after a second yellow card was issued to freshman forward Hannah Jibril.
Pratapas made her first of five saves off a Wake Forest corner kick in the fifth minute, securing Emily Murphy's header from close range. Pratapas made two stops in the opening half.
The Wolfpack logged its first shot on target when Bordeleau's attempt forced a save from Howard in the 33rd minute. Bordeleau won possession after a free kick from just inside midfield and drilled her shot to the bottom left side of the goal, forcing Howard to make a diving stop.
NC State came just over seven minutes away from notching its first win at Wake Forest since 1996.
