DURHAM, N.C. – NC State women's soccer earned a point in the ACC standings for the second straight road match in Sunday night's 0-0 draw at No. 16 Duke.
Goalkeeper Olivia Pratapas posted her first-career shutout in Sunday's draw, making four saves to keep the Blue Devils off the board. Pratapas made three saves in the first half, including a diving effort on Elle Piper's long-distance attempt in the 38th minute. Pratapas leaped to her left and pushed the ball out behind for a Duke corner kick to keep the game scoreless.
NC State logged three straight shots in the game over a strong 11-minute spurt early in the first half when Rosalie Olou, Annika Wohner and Jameese Joseph each recorded attempts.
The Wolfpack almost secured all three ACC points on its best opportunity of the night when Duke goalkeeper Leah Freeman saved Wohner's close-range shot in the 79th minute. Joseph kept the ball alive on the right flank before Emika Kawagishi whipped in a cross to Wohner, who stayed onside before firing her right-footed strike at Freeman.
Kawagishi and Joseph combined for another opportunity in the 86th minute when Kawagishi's long pass found Joseph down the right sideline. Joseph sprinted toward Duke's goal and drew a yellow card from Duke defender Nicole Chico right outside the 18-yard box. Wohner's free kick attempt after Chico's caution missed just to the right of Freeman's goal.
Duke also almost grabbed the winning goal in the final 10 minutes when Mia Minestrella drifted offside before her eventual disallowed goal.
NC State held Duke scoreless in the first half at home for the first time this season. The Blue Devils scored in the first half in all five of their home games prior to Sunday's result at Koskinen Stadium.
Wohner paced NC State with three shots and a shot on goal. The Wolfpack earned both of its corner kicks in the second half.
