Multiple Program Bests Highlight NC State's Season Opener at Cougar Classic

HANAHAN, S.C. — The NC State women's golf program kicked off the 2023-24 season with multiple program-best achievements at the Cougar Classic on Monday and Tuesday. The Pack finished 13th in the field with a team cumulative of 856 (+4) that ranks as the second-lowest 54-hole team score in program history.
During a tournament that began with Lauren Olivares Leon posting the lowest 18-hole score in NCAA women's golf history, NC State tied its lowest cumulative team score in program history in the first round with a 278 (-6).
Olivares Leon ended up finishing third in a field of nearly 100 players, with her 200 (-13) lowering her own 54-hole program record. She had two rounds under par over the course of her 60-72-68 tournament.
Making her collegiate debut, Ellise Rymer shot a 67 (-4) in the third round to close out an even-par 213 for the tournament. Vania Simont also had an under par round with a 70 in the second 18 that the Pack started Monday and finished up on Tuesday.
