CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – NC State women's golf's 2025-26 season ended in a heartbreaker at the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional in a three-way playoff.
After 54 holes of stroke play, NC State was in a three-way tie for fourth at 18-over 858 (283-284-291) with Michigan State and Virginia. With the cutline for the NCAA Championship being the top five teams, the three teams went out for extra holes. All five players were sent out to holes 10-14 at the same time. After each one finished their hole, they combined the team scores and the two lowest scores would punch their tickets to the NCAA Championship. NC State scored a 26 in comparison to Michigan State and Virginia's 23s.
Marie Eline Madsen finished the tournament in 13th with a 1-over 211 (69-70-72). She had two birdies, four bogeys and 12 pars in the final round.
