Pack Finishes Eighth at Blessings Collegiate Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Playing in the Blessings Collegiate Invitational for the first time, NC State women's golf finished eighth as a squad as competition wrapped up Wednesday. The team posted a 36-hole cumulative score of 603 (+27).
The third and final round of the tournament was suspended after only a few holes of action on Wednesday, and scores from that round were not counted toward the final team and individual results.
Lauren Olivares Leon and Isabel Amezcua both finished in the top 20 of the field. Olivares Leon shot two-under (70) on day one and had a 77 on day two to finish three-over (147) on the week. Amezcua was just a stroke behind her teammate, posting a 72 in the first round and a 76 in the second round for a tournament total of 148.
After an 81 during her first day on the course, Vania Simont then notched a one-under 71 during Tuesday's action. Ellise Rymer and Caitlin Whitehead rounded out the Wolfpack lineup, marking the second time in as many tournaments this season that the Pack has run with this five-player rotation.
NC State continues its four-tournament October in a week when it makes the short trip to Chapel Hill, N.C., to play at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational on Oct. 9 and 10.
