FIRST TIME OUT
After originally planning to take part in a scrimmage on September 1, the NC State cross country program will now kick off the 2023 season at the "Friday Night Lights" Elon Opener. The women's 4k will begin at 8:15 p.m. with the men's 6k following at 8:45 p.m.
The men's squad will be represented by Wesley Larson and Patrick Gibbons while Sierra Collins, Olivia Haas, and Caroline Murrell will be competing for the women's team.
PACK IN THE POLLS
This will mark the first competition for the red and white since the women's program captured its second consecutive NCAA Championship last season. The ladies of NC State come into the year ranked number one in the country in the USTFCCCA National Preseason Coaches' Poll and are picked to win the ACC for what would be the eighth straight time.
The men's program heads into the year ranked 21st in the country and third in the southeast region after finishing 11th in the nation last season, the highest finish since 2018.
