NEW ORLEANS - Head Women's Cross Country Coach, Laurie Henes, has been named the USTFCCCA Women's NCAA DI National Coach of the Year, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Henes earns the honor after leading the NC State women's cross country team to a national championship title on November 22 at Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Missouri. It was the team's fourth national team title in five years.
The Wolfpack women edged out runner-up and 2024 National Champion BYU by 16 points in a thrilling finish. NC State's time average was only .02 seconds ahead of BYU's average time. In a race defined by depth, grit and composure, the Wolfpack surged when it mattered most.
The recognition comes less than a week after she was named the NCAA Southeast Region Women's Coach of the Year for the tenth season in a row.
