Wolfpack Ready To Begin Action At Penn Relays, Charlotte Invitational

RALEIGH - The NC State track and field team is set to begin another weekend of outdoor competition, taking part in the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, PA and the Charlotte Invitational in the Queen City.

The Pack is coming off of a record-setting weekend of competition where they competed in the Virginia Challenge and Wake Forest Invite.
The action started in Charlottesville on Thursday as Timara Chapman competed in the first portion of the women's heptathlon, setting a new personal best in the high jump with a leap of 1.73m. The next day, Chapman went on to break her own school record in the event with 5746 points and finished in second place overall. She produced a top-5 finish in each leg of the event in which she competed.
After finishing first in the men's 100m prelims with a PB-time of 10.25, Cam Murray advanced to the final where he clocked in at 10.27 to win the event.
Another school record fell in the women's javelin throw, as Katie Horne took down the all-time NC State mark with her toss of 44.84m, which also earned her sixth place.
Gavin Gaynor competed in the men's 800m invite at the Wake Forest Invitational, placing fourth with a clock-in of 1:48.59 to set the new NC State record.
Katelyn Tuohy made her 2023 outdoor debut and immediately reminded the world who she is, clocking in at 4:08.92 in the women's 1500m invite to finish third and record the best mark in the NCAA this season.
In the women's 5000m, Amaris Tyynismaa produced a PB time of 15:30.37 to finish second and set the third-best time in program history.
On the final day of competition in Virginia, Jirah Sidberry earned a victory in the women's long jump after leaping 6.35m.
