Wolfpack Falls to Clemson on Friday Night

Loss Snaps Pack's Five-Game Winning Streak
RALEIGH – The NC State baseball team had its five-game winning streak snapped as Clemson recorded a 10-2 victory at Doak Field on Friday night.
The Tigers (23-16, 7-9 ACC) never trailed after scoring three runs in the opening frame. Clemson struck first with a three-run homer from Billy Amick to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead.
NC State (25-12, 8-10 ACC) trimmed its deficit to 3-1 when Carter Trice chopped an RBI groundout to third base in the bottom of the first.
Clemson scored two in the third and two more in the fourth to stretch its lead to 7-1. The Tigers scored one in the sixth and two in the seventh to extend its lead to a game-high nine runs at 10-1 after the top of the seventh.
NC State scored its second and final run of the night via a balk on Clemson relief pitcher Tristan Smith in the bottom of the seventh.
The Wolfpack left nine runners on base in the setback, stranding runners at second and third both in the third and fifth innings, respectively.
Will Marcy paced the Wolfpack with a 3-for-4 night at the plate, reaching base four times after drawing a walk in the ninth inning. Trevor Candelaria recorded a pair of hits, while Marcy and Kalae Harrison each scored a run.
Clemson starting pitcher Ethan Darden (3-2) earned the win on the mound after allowing just one run over six innings. Logan Whitaker (3-3) suffered the loss.

NC State looks to even the series in Saturday's matchup at The Doak. Saturday's game against Clemson is now set for 7 p.m. and will stream live on ACC Network Extra. Saturday's game was originally scheduled for 4 p.m. but was moved back three hours due to inclement weather.
