
Gymnastics Nabs Tri-Meet Victory With 196.275

Pack Knocks Off Western Michigan & North Carolina
RALEIGH – The NC State gymnastics team continued its strong start to its 2023 campaign on Saturday claiming a tri-meet win over Western Michigan and rival North Carolina with a final score of 196.275.
The evening was highlighted by four first-place event finishes including Emily Shepard's all-around mark of 39.375, while the Pack's floor tally of 49.275 marked the highest total in the event for NC State this season. The Wolfpack captured the highest score of the evening on three of four events.
Vault (49.000)
The Wolfpack opened the contest on vault with a score of 49.000 and were led by a pair of 9.850 marks from Shepard and Chloe Negrete. Alexis Ortega registered a season high in the event at 9.825, while Lauren Rutherford and Gabrielle Diaz rounded out NC State's scoring effort in the event with a 9.750 and 9.725, respectively.
Bars (48.950)
Rutherford and Shepard led the way for the Pack on bars with Rutherford tying her season-high at 9.850 and Shepard matching her total as the final two to compete in the event. The two were preceded by Ortega who registered a 9.825, while freshman Sofia Obregon's career debut resulted in a 9.725. Fellow freshman Kailee Adomaites recorded the Pack's final counting score with a 9.700
Beam (49.050)
For the fifth time in as many meets, Negrete was NC State's leader on beam with a score of 9.875. She was followed by Krista Zultevicz at 9.825 while Diaz and Shepard posted a pair of 9.800 marks, with Diaz's resulting in a season high. A 9.750 from Ortega completed the scoring effort, sending the Pack to floor with a three-event total of 147.000.
Floor (49.275)
Negrete was once again the Wolfpack's leader on floor, matching her season-high total of 9.925 which she originally hit on Jan. 14. A strong finish for the Pack saw back-to-back scores of 9.875 from Shepard and Rutherford, while a season-high score in the leadoff position from Diaz got the Wolfpack started with a 9.850. A 9.750 from Zultevicz rounded out the event, registering a new floor season-high team score for NC State.
Next Up
The Pack will now shift its focus to an EAGL quad meet at Towson alongside conference foes Pitt and Temple. The meet is set for Friday, Feb. 10 and is slated to begin at 6 p.m.
