
Wolfpack Ends Weekend Action at Tiger Paw, Valentine Invites with Two New School Records

RALEIGH - The NC State track and field team wrapped up weekend action at the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C. and the Valentine Invitational in Boston, Mass. with two new school records and multiple new PRs.Â
MIDDLE DISTANCE
Zach Hughes broke the school record for the men's 800m with his effort of 1:49.55 at the Valentine Invite.Â
Senior Laurel Black claimed fourth at the Tiger Paw Invite with her new personal best time of 10:00.04 in the women's 3000m.Â
In the women's 800m, Caroline Lewis recorded a time of 2:12.48 to set a new personal best and claim the 10th-best time in NC State history.Â
On the men's side of the 800m, Patrick Gibbons debuted in the event with a mark of 1:53.61, while teammates Wesley Larson (1:54.33) and Grant Howlett (1:54.74) each recorded new personal best times.Â
Brett Gardner set a new personal best in the men's mile with his mark of 3:58.15, good for theÂ
second-best time in school history. Jake Toomey also set a new personal best in the event, clocking in at 4:07.84.
JUMPS
In the women's high jump, Jakerra Covington earned a mark of 1.59m (5'02.50") at the Tiger Paw Invite to claim a new personal best.Â
Kyzaiah Stone represented NC State in the men's high jump, taking seventh place with a leap of 2.11m (6'11.00").
DISTANCE
The Pack saw three athletes compete in the men's 5000m at the Valentine Invite. Ian Shanklin established a new school record with his personal best time of 13:29.61. Joining Shanklin in the event were Ian Harrison (13:35.71) and David Vorbach (13:42.68), who set new personal best marks as well. Each athletes time in the event beat the previous school record, giving these athletes the top three marks in NC State history.
