NC State added six podium finishes on the evening
AUBURN, Ala. – The No. 20 NC State gymnastics team posted a 196.125 during its top-20 dual meet against No. 5 Auburn on Friday night, with the Tigers finishing at 197.175.
The evening was highlighted by six podium finishes for NC State in addition to Krista Zultevicz adding a career-best score of 9.825 on beam. The contest also marked the third time in as many meets that the Wolfpack have posted scores of 196.125 or higher.
Bars (49.025)
The Pack began its evening on bars where Alexis Ortega led the way at 9.850. Ortega's effort was enough to land her in a tie for second place on the podium, only short of Olympic gold-medalist Sunisa Lee of Auburn who finished the event with a 9.950. Lauren Rutherford and Emily Shepard followed just behind Ortega with scores of 9.825 and 9.800, respectively, while Hailey Merchant and Peyton Childs rounded out NC State's scoring effort with a pair of 9.775 tallies.
Vault (49.025)
The Pack's second rotation was highlighted by a pair of 9.850 scores from Shepard and Chloe Negrete, both of which earned the duo a tie for third place. The score would be Shepard's highest of the evening, while Gabrielle Diaz, Zultevicz, and Rutherford each posted scores of 9.775.
Floor (49.000)
Negrete was once again NC State's leader on the floor, registering a 9.875 which landed her a third-place podium finish. Zultevicz followed Negrete with a 9.800, while a trio of 9.775 marks from Madison Benson, Diaz, and Shepard sent NC State to its final rotation of the evening on beam.
Beam (49.075)
For the second competition in a row NC State's highest score in an event came on beam, once again led by Negrete at 9.900. Negrete's second-straight score of 9.900 in the event placed her in a four-way tie for first place alongside three Tiger gymnast. Zultevicz and Shepard added sixth-place finishes in the event at 9.825, with Zultevicz's score setting a new career-high mark. The Pack's scoring effort was rounded out by Diaz matching her season-high score of 9.775, while Ortega posted a 9.750.

NC State returns to Reynolds Coliseum on Saturday, Feb. 4 for a 4 p.m. tri-meet against Western Michigan and in-state rival North Carolina. The contest will serve as NC State's annual Pink Meet and will be broadcast on the ACC Network Extra with Rachel Garland and Sydney Snead on the call.
