Pack Set Three Season-High Event Scores
RALEIGH – NC State gymnastics set a trio of season-high event scores on vault, bars, and beam on Saturday afternoon in Reynolds Coliseum as the Wolfpack posted a 196.650 and picked up a pair of EAGL victories over George Washington (195.250) and Pitt (195.150).
The Pack's all-around score marked the 14th-highest total in program history, and is the highest tally thus far in NC State's 2023 campaign.
Vault (49.175)
The Wolfpack kicked the evening off by NC State posting a season-high team score on vault highlighted by senior Chloe Negrete's first of three scores of 9.900. Negrete followed a 9.875 from eventual all-around runner-up Emily Shepard, while Lauren Rutherford tallied her first of three scores of 9.850 on vault. Negrete's 9.900 tied her career high in the event while eclipsing her previous season-high mark of 9.875.
Bars (49.125)
NC State posted five scores of 9.800+ in its second rotation led by Rutherford and Hailey Merchant adding scores of 9.850. Merchant's mark set a new season high for the sophomore as Merchant and Rutherford were followed by Alexis Ortega at 9.825. Freshman Kailee Adomaites additionally finished with a 9.800 which matched the score of Peyton Childs. The 49.125 event score improved NC State's previous team season high by a .025 margin from the Pack's dual meet against Michigan State on Jan. 14.
Beam (49.200)
NC State's third season-high event score of the evening came on beam, where the Wolfpack posted an event-high score of 49.200. Negrete led the way for NC State with a 9.900 showing while Shepard's 9.875 improved her season high by a full tenth of a point. Beam specialist Macy Jennings fired a 9.825 while Ortega and Krista Zultevicz posted a pair of 9.800s.
Floor (49.150)
A wire-to-wire win for the Wolfpack ended on floor with Negrete once again leading the way at 9.900. Shepard once again followed with a 9.875 while Rutherford tallied her third 9.850 of the contest. Floor specialist Madison Benson added a 9.775 of her own after making her 2023 debut last week while Gabrielle Diaz closed out the scoring effort with a 9.750. NC State's floor tally of 49.150 marked the first time since Mar. 6, 2022, that all four events ended with a score of 49.000+ for the Wolfpack.
