
Wolfpack XC heads to South Bend for Joe Piane Invitational

For the first time since their dominating performance at the Adidas XC Challenge, both NC State cross country teams will be back in action on Friday morning when the Wolfpack travels to South Bend, Ind. for the Joe Piane Invitational.
The event is scheduled to start at 10:30 am (Women's Blue Division - 5,000 Meters) and 11:15 am (Men's Blue Division - 5 miles).

Both NC State cross country teams claimed five of the top-six finishing positions in their respective races at the Adidas XC Challenge at WakeMed Soccer Park Cross Country Course in Cary on September 16.
Sam Bush led the Wolfpack women, finishing first with a time of 16:14.5. Marlee Starliper, competing in her first cross country event for NC State, finished second (16:20.1). Mariah Howlett (16:37.5) came in third, giving the Wolfpack the top three finishes in the event.
Brett Gardner finished second overall in the men's race, becoming the first NC State runner to cross the finish line with a time of 17:30.9. Ian Harrison (17:36.9) finished third.
The NC State women won the Joe Piane Invitational a year ago. Four teams ranked in the top 10 of the NCAA women's poll will compete at the event.
