#Pack9 Closes Out Regular Season Slate With Wake Forest Series

RALEIGH – NC State baseball (33-17, 14-12 ACC) will close out its regular season slate this weekend when it welcomes in-state foe Wake Forest (36-16-1, 12-14-1 ACC) for a three-game series. The teams will play Thursday and Friday at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m.
All three games will be broadcast on ACCNX and there will be a radio broadcast on WKNC 88.1 and the Varsity Network App.
Prior to Saturday's game, the program will honor its senior class of Devonte Brown, David Harrison, J.T. Jarrett, Matt Oldham and Canaan Silver.

LAST TIME OUT
NC State hosted UNCG in its final midweek contest on Tuesday and downed the Spartans, 20-2 (7 inn.). The Pack plated nine runs in the first inning, marking the most this year the team has scored in a single inning, and every player tallied at least one hit in the game, including six who turned in multi-hit outings.
Four different players hit a home run in the contest, highlighted by Tommy White who hit his 22nd of the year to tie the ACC freshman home run record which was set by Florida State's Chris Diaz in 1998. Additionally, the pitching staff of Justin Lawson, Harrison, Carson Kelly and Garrett Payne combined to hold the Spartans to just two hits.
With the win the Wolfpack swept its home-and-home series this year with UNCG and finished with a 10-2 mark in midweek competition.
SERIES HISTORY
Thursday will be the 190th time NC State and Wake Forest have met as the Wolfpack leads the all-time series, 125-63-1.
The teams last met on April 30-May 2, 2021, in Winston-Salem, N.C., and NC State took two of three to clinch the series. The Pack opened the weekend with a 13-7 win, and then after dropping the second game, 14-11, it captured a 15-8 victory in the rubber match. The entire series was a slugfest as the teams hit a combined 20 home runs on the weekend.
The last time the teams played a series in Raleigh was on May 11-13, 2018, and NC State swept Wake Forest with 8-5, 7-5 and 10-6 wins, respectively.
ON DECK
NC State has clinched a spot in the 2022 ACC Tournament, which will be held at Truist Field in Charlotte, N.C., May 24-29. The Pack will know its schedule for the pool play portion on Sunday, May 22, which will be held May 24-27, and the semifinals and finals of the championship will take place May 28 and 29, respectively.
