
Tuohy Brings Home 5000m Silver Medal on First Day of NCAA Indoor Championships

BIRMINGHAM, ALA. - The NC State track & field program opened competition at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday, collecting two First Team All-American honors and two Second Team All-America accolades.
Von Douglas opened the day for the Pack with a 12th-place finish in the men's long jump. His mark of 7.10m (23'3.5") was good to earn him Second Team All-American laurels.
In the women's 5000m, Sophomore Katelyn Tuohy took second with a personal-best time of 15:30.63. The time checks in as the second-fastest in program history, and with the finish Tuohy tabbed First Team All-America honors.
Kelsey Chmiel garnered First All-America status as well, placing fifth in the women's 5000m with a time of 15:36.98.
Allie Hays rounded out the group of first-day competitors, running a 15:46.25 in the women's 5000m. She placed 10th and received Second Team All-American accolades in the event.
