RALEIGH – No. 7 NC State baseball (5-0) will round out an eight-game home stand this weekend when it hosts Quinnipiac (1-2) for a three-game set at Doak Field at Dail Park. The teams will play Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
Friday's game will be on the ACC Network, while Saturday and Sunday's games will be on ACCNX. Friday and Saturday's games will be aired on WKNC 88.1 and streamed on the Varsity Network App, and Sunday's contest will only be available via the Varsity Network App.
STARTING PITCHERS
Friday – RHP Sam Highfill (NCSU) vs. LHP Brandyn Garcia (QU)
Saturday – RHP Matt Willadsen (NCSU) vs. RHP Kevin Seitter (QU)
Sunday – LHP David Harrison (NCSU) vs. LHP Tate Copeland (QU)
LAST TIME OUT
NC State hosted High Point and Longwood on Tuesday and Wednesday in a pair of midweek contests, and earned 18-3 and 19-3 wins, respectively.
SERIES HISTORY
Friday will be the sixth time NC State and Quinnipiac have met in program history, as the Wolfpack owns a 5-0 advantage in the all-time series.
The teams last met on March 12, 2013, in Raleigh, and NC State captured a 1-0 win.
NO STOPPING THIS OFFENSE
The Wolfpack offense is on a hot streak to start the season, as it has scored double digits in three of its five games and is currently outscoring opponents 74-16. Additionally, it has not allowed an opponent to score within the first five innings of a game this season.
The squad has tallied double-digit hits in every contest so far this year, and 39 of its 85 hits on the year have been for extra bases.
FULL CIRCLE FOR WHITAKER
RHP Logan Whitaker joined the Pack in 2019 and has battled through multiple injuries during his time. Wednesday was a full circle moment for him as he picked up his first career win in his first career start against Longwood, throwing five shutout innings while striking out five batters.
NATIONAL PRAISE FOR WHITE
Thanks to his sensational collegiate debut last weekend against Evansville, Tommy White picked up five weekly honors this week. He was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week and was tabbed the National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball, Perfect Game, DI Baseball and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).
He went 9-for-14 on the weekend with 12 runs batted in and five home runs, highlighted by a three-homer outing in his first collegiate start on Feb. 18.
