
Gymnastics Posts 196.350 in Dual Meet

RALEIGH - The NC State gymnastics team earned its second-highest score of the season on Saturday, posting a 196.350 against North Carolina (196.625).
The Wolfpack opened the meet on vault, attaining its highest score of the season on the event with a 49.050. Gabrielle Diaz and Madison Benson recorded career bests on the apparatus, Diaz leading off with a 9.825 and Benson notching a 9.850 that tied her for third place. Lauren Rutherford tied her career high of 9.825 on the event.
NC State recorded a 48.900 on bars in an effort that featured a career high for Rutherford of 9.875, good for her to take the individual title. Emily Shepard earned a 9.825 to tie for second on bars, and Carina Jordan posted a 9.800.
Continuing a strong season on beam, the Pack compiled a team score of 49.175. NC State did not count any score lower than a 9.800 on the apparatus.
Alexis Ortega and Shepard led the way, each posting a 9.875 that tied them with one another for second place. Nicole Webb tabbed a 9.825 while Kailin Foland and Macy Jennings each garnered a 9.800.
Floor was the last rotation of the meet, and again the Wolfpack only counted scores of 9.800 or higher. Rutherford and Shepard were the highest scorers, each with a 9.875 that tied them for second place. Diaz earned a 9.850 while Benson recorded a 9.825 and Webb achieved a 9.800.
